Radici
Cucivo e scucivo, sbagliavo e ricominciavo.
In realtà stavo soltanto tornando a casa.
The first time I sat in front of a sewing machine, I was ten years old. I was lucky enough to have a grandmother who was just as skilled with a needle as she was stubborn about refusing to shorten my trousers. “If you want them shorter, you’ll have to do it yourself.” It was a simple remark, made almost in passing. For me, it marked the beginning of something. That’s how it started. Without thinking too much about it, I began sewing, unpicking, making mistakes and starting over. I wasn’t chasing a career, nor did I have a plan. I was simply searching for something that felt like me—something in which I could recognise myself.
Over the years, that search never stopped. The way I sew has changed. The materials have changed. My perspective has changed. But the same curiosity has always remained: the desire to transform what moves me into something that will stand the test of time. It was only much later that I realised my journey had been heading in a direction I had never consciously chosen.
Looking back at my grandparents and those who came before them, I began to see a thread that had always been there. Long before I was born, my family was filled with people whose hands knew how to create, whose eyes were trained to recognise beauty, and who had the courage to build something of their own. No one ever told me which path to follow. And yet, without even realising it, I was walking in the very same direction. Today, I believe this is how Fiori d’Incenso came to life: not from the desire to invent something new, but from the need to give my own voice to something that had, in many ways, always been part of me. Every bag is the result of that journey—not only a search for materials, shapes and details, but also an invisible connection to the stories that came before me.
I thought I was searching for my own path.
In the end, I was simply finding my way home.
